Get to know Jabot

The doors to Jabot Window Coverings & Interiors opened April Fools Day 1990. My friends and family thought I was crazy starting a business during a recession, but 25 1/2 years later, here we are, and the home decor industry is bigger than ever!

Situated in the same great location, Dundarave Village, it has come to be a place people gather for great coffee and treats with Starbucks, Delany’s and now Temper Pastry right beside us. Our boutique showroom houses hundreds of fabrics and displays the latest blinds and products on the market, the space is not large, but it does what it is intended to do. It shows you enough of what we do, the rest is created in your home with our free in-home consultation service, which our customers love.

There are two consultants at Jabot, myself, Charlene Ingram, my daughter Ricci-Lee Ingram and Brenda our long time showroom manager…keeping it small and simple works well. If anyone works with family, you know that it is both a blessing and a curse, but most days we go without any hair pulling or muffin tossing!

I had been working in the industry for 3 years prior to venturing out and starting my own business. It was scary and exhilarating at the same time. When I look back at my 25 years of owning and operating Jabot and ask myself what I have learned? It would have to be tenacity and loyalty, to my customers, my ideas and myself.

I put my eye in the details. Wanting to sell the best quality blinds, Hunter Douglas, and provide excellent workmanship when it comes to making drapes or other home items. Customer service is high on my priority list, I want to keep our clients coming back so I adopted the policy “the customer is always right” and it has served us well. I know they say you can’t please everyone, but I do my best.

Originally, we specialized purely in window coverings and it was a natural progression into custom home furnishings and interior design. It’s not something we are well know for but once our clients get to know us they quickly learn we can do much more than just window coverings.

There are many factors that come into play when designing beautiful spaces. Color, texture, scale and someone with a good eye who can confidentily execute it. After years of experience, I can say with certainty, we can shape your vision with fresh ideas you may not have considered.
